My name is Leopold Pfeffel! Since more than 40 years  I am owner, receptionist, gardener, host and vintner in our company in Dürnstein. We would like to give you a closer look in our family business!

My wife Stefanie – daughter of a farmer’s family in Carinthia – and I started with a boarding house 40 years ago. In the beginning we only had 4 guest rooms with no breakfast room. Our business has grown constantly to the size of 120 guest beds nowadays.

Next to my favourite hobby – hosting my guests, I gained a strong passion for wine. 30 Years ago we bought a vineyard on the west side of the hotel, named “ Flohhaxn” – back then ragged and fallow – the headstone for our winery in those days. The harsh climate in the Wachau valley was a trouble in the beginning – but after a while I understood how to use the nature to my advantage and I earned bigger prizes on wine ratings.

After working 40 years in this company I am able to stand next to my family – 3 children and 8 grandchildren – and advise to the newly build 4 star hotel part and our little Winery and wish you a pleasant stay in our Gartenhotel & Winery Pfeffel!
